Manifest Your Best Life: Easy Steps to Shift Your Mindset and Create Positivity

Dreama Whitfield

Step-by Step Guide to Positive Thinking

Picture this: I'm sitting in a dull, cramped college classroom, perched on a cold, uncomfortable chair in the middle of summer. Outside, everyone else seems to be soaking up the sunshine, while I’m stuck inside with a small group of mixed-age students. The professor, full of energy, introduces the guest speaker. Her name? I can’t recall it, but I’ll never forget the experience.

She asked us to close our eyes and take deep breaths as she counted down from ten. Her voice was soft, soothing, almost like a lullaby. As she counted, she encouraged us to set clear intentions—visualize what we wanted, and where we wanted to be. Picture ourselves surrounded by the people and things we needed to achieve our goals. At 19, my only goal was simple: escape this class and be outside, enjoying the warm sun.

As I followed her instructions, I began to relax, my mind drifting to the college yard. I saw myself outside, laughing with friends, basking in the sun. The exercise lasted about 20 minutes, and before I knew it, the class had ended, and I was right where I’d visualized—out in the yard, soaking up the sunshine. Simple? Yes. Life-changing? Absolutely.

"Manifesting: Because sometimes the universe just needs a little nudge to give you exactly what you ordered!" – Unknown

Fast forward to my time as a graduate student studying counseling, where I started learning more about manifesting positive outcomes. I realized that the three steps the guest speaker taught us were powerful tools. I’ve used them to achieve many of my goals, and you can too.

Here’s how:

  1. Identify Your Desires: Be clear about what you want to manifest—whether it’s a new job, a stronger relationship, or better health.

  2. Positive Affirmations: Create affirmations that reflect your desired outcome, and repeat them regularly to keep your mindset aligned with your goals.

  3. Visualization and Imagination: Use mental imagery to vividly picture yourself already living your desired outcome. Feel the emotions tied to it as if it's happening right now.

Manifesting isn’t just about wishful thinking—it’s about focusing your energy and intentions on what you truly want. And the more clearly you define it, the more likely you are to see it come to life.
